Travel To Koh Tao
Fly and boat
- Bangkok to Koh Samui (Bangkok Airways). High speed ferry Lomprayah and Sea Tran from Koh Samui to Koh Tao (2 hour ferry).
Both Seatran and Lomprayah run 2 trips daily, both depart at 8.00 am, in the afternoon Lomprayah has a trip leaving at 12 noon, Seatran leaves at 14.00 pm.
- Seatran is only 5 minutes from the airport so handy if you have a ‘tight’ connection, for Lomprayah you should count on a 30-40 minute transfer.
- Both companies offer taxi service included in the ticket price.
Train
- From anywhere in Thailand to Chumphon, then boat to Koh Tao (Seatran or Lompraya).
- Seatran has one boat daily from Chumphon (departure 7.00 am, arrival 9.00 am),
- Lomprayah offers 2 trips, one at 7.00 am (arrives 9.00 am) and an afternoon trip
Leaving at 13.00 pm (arrives 15.00 pm).
Tour Buses
- These are probably the most widely used for travellers and are sometimes the simplest. Most start from Khao San Road in Bangkok and will connect directly with boats to Koh Tao (Joint Tickets).
- Prices vary dramatically between operators and it is best to ask at any travel agent on Khao San Road to get the latest prices and schedules.
- The major companies traveling to Koh Tao are again Lomprayah and Sea Tran with the most comfortable buses and boats.
Songserm is the third possibility, cheaper than the other 2, but not as comfortable buses and slower boats.
